Set in a romanticised, late-19th-century industrial world, it follows two children—Pazu and Sheeta—pursued by pirates and the military as they search for the legendary floating city of Laputa and protect a mysterious levitation crystal. The film’s blend of wonder, flight imagery, and mechanical design has made it a cornerstone of Japanese animation and a major reference point for later steampunk/dieselpunk-inspired storytelling.

Poster design
This iconic B2 design is built around a single unforgettable image: Sheeta floating in a calm, glowing halo above Pazu, who stands on a wooden platform, looking up in stunned awe. The scene is suspended in a deep, stormy sky—minimal, dramatic, and emotionally direct—while the bold green title 「天空の城ラピュタ」 anchors the lower left with enormous wall presence.
