This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1961 (60 years ago!) for the first re-release of Cinderella. Considering its age, it is in a fantastic condition. This poster has artwork unique to the Japanese edition.
This poster was acquired by Japan Poster Shop, along with many other rare 1950-1970`s posters (all in excellent to near mint condition), from a Japanese supplier near Osaka. The posters were previously carefully stored in a warehouse belonging to an entrepreneur who used to own a cinema until the 1980`s (when it went bankrupt due to the rise in VHS video).
Walt Disney's fairy tale Cinderella was based on the 17th century story by the French author Charles Perrault. It is the twelfth Disney animated feature film. This was the first time that Disney's core animators (Disney's Nine Old Men) collaborated as directing animators. The film was a much needed commercial and critical success after the difficult times the studio had experienced during and after World War II. This film was the most financially successful for the studio since Disney's first feature Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937
This poster is in an excellent condition. The poster was previously stores in a loose threefold - this is very typical of Japanese posters. Please refer to the imagery (both front and back) as this is the exact poster that is for sale.
