Two women survive by murdering lost samurai and selling their armour, until jealousy, desire, and superstition poison their fragile existence. Shindō’s film is celebrated for its raw physicality, its modernist intensity, and its unforgettable use of landscape—wind, reeds, mud, and darkness turned into pure dread.

Poster design
A masterpiece of Japanese poster art. An enormous close-up of watchful eyes dominates the upper field, looming over a sea of tall reeds—nature rendered as a claustrophobic trap. Below, the drama erupts in a vivid, theatrical vignette: a laughing woman and a man in violent embrace, while a small armoured figure stands isolated in the grass like a ghost of war. The title 「鬼婆」 is written in huge, expressive white brush-calligraphy down the left, contrasting against the black ground with startling force. A band of musical staff lines and credits anchors the base, completing a design that is both modernist and primal—an iconic B2 with immense wall presence.

Condition
Very Good+ / Excellent.
