This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1983 for the first release of Return of the Jedi (affectionately known to collectors as "Nova" or "Starfall").
This is a very special and ultra rare poster, produced under license to Yamakatsu and sold / given away exclusively to the public at cinemas where the film was first shown in Japan. Noriyoshi Ohrai`s fantastic artwork is now a thing of legends and was so superior that the poster was often displayed alongside the studio release poster. R2-D2 and C3P0 stand calmly and without emotion in front of an exploding nebula, in readiness to sacrifice and provide their humble services in order to save the universe!
This poster is in an excellent condition. There is some very light fading damage to the top left hand corner. It appears that there were other items or posters stacked on top of this one and as the light hit it, it faded away. This can be seen by the way the straight line across the poster where there is subtle fading. The light exposure would have perhaps come through cord holes in blinds or similar, limiting exposure to those localized areas. Over the years we have seen many posters that have had fading like this. Please refer to the imagery as this is the exact poster that is for sale.
