Adapted from Forrest Carter’s novel, the film follows a Missouri farmer turned guerrilla who refuses to surrender after the Civil War, forging a found family on the run. One of Eastwood’s great ’70s achievements, it cemented his stature as a director.

Design
A dramatic, painterly montage against a clear prairie-blue sky: Eastwood’s profile dominates at right, both Colt revolvers drawn; a windswept amber portrait looms at left; and a mid-gallop Josey on horseback charges across the center as riders thunder below—kinetic dust-plume silhouettes echoing the pursuit. The massive red katakana title 「アウトロー」 punches across the lower band with crisp Japanese copy lines and Warner credit block—an iconic Japan-market campaign.

Condition
Very Good+.
