While the movie minimally portrays the actual warfare, it stands as a paramount exploration of the perplexity and insanity inherent in the conflict. Undoubtedly, Apocalypse Now deserved the 1979 Academy Award for Best Picture, and its loss to Kramer vs. Kramer remains one of the most egregious injustices in Oscar history. Many attribute this upset to the preceding year's Best Picture win for Deer Hunter, as some believe the Academy hesitated to consecutively honor films centered around the still-recent war. A regrettable decision, indeed.
This Japanese B0 poster adopts a vertical design akin to the smaller B2, yet its abstract concept renders it exceptionally rare. To my knowledge, this is the second existing copy I have encountered.
