🏯 Company Philosophy
Guided by Bushidō — The Way of the Warrior
At Japan Poster Shop, our philosophy is deeply rooted in Japanese tradition. As a company founded and run by Japanese owners, we take immense pride in preserving cultural history—not just through our inventory, but in how we do business. Our guiding principles are inspired by Bushidō (武士道), the ancient moral code of the samurai.
“Bushidō is the code of moral principles which the samurai were instructed to observe…”
This ethos shapes every decision we make, every interaction we have, and every poster we offer.
1. 義 (Gi) – Justice & Rectitude
We act swiftly and decisively, but always with integrity. Every business decision is guided by a clear sense of right and wrong—honoring fairness, discipline, and purpose.
2. 勇 (Yū) – Courage
We have the courage to pursue what we believe is right, even when it goes against convention. Japan Poster Shop exists today because we dared to do things differently—from launching online to dealing globally in ultra-rare posters.
3. 仁 (Jin) – Benevolence & Mercy
With access to rare and powerful works, we recognize our role as cultural custodians. We treat each piece—and each customer—with care, empathy, and respect for its deeper meaning and value.
4. 禮 (Rei) – Respect
Respect is fundamental in everything we do. From honoring the artists who created these works, to offering world-class customer service, we hold ourselves to the highest standard of politeness, humility, and courtesy.
5. 誠 (Makoto) – Honesty
We believe in absolute transparency—whether in pricing, grading, or provenance. Trust is earned by being truthful, and our reputation is built on that honesty.
6. 名誉 (Meiyo) – Honor
We take pride in doing things the right way. From how we source our posters to how we package and ship them, our work is done with dignity, pride, and commitment to quality.
7. 忠義 (Chūgi) – Loyalty
We are deeply loyal—to our mission, to our partners, and most importantly, to our customers. Many of our clients return time and again, not just for the posters, but for the relationship built on service and trust.
“Loyalty is what binds us. Respect is what defines us. Honor is what guides us.”
