Original Japanese B0 Movie Posters & Large Billboards

Japanese B0 movie posters are among the rarest and most visually impressive forms of original theatrical advertising. Measuring approximately 103 × 145 cm, a standard B0 poster has four times the area of a B2, providing an extraordinary canvas for cinematic artwork, dramatic compositions and large-scale photographic imagery. Produced in substantially smaller quantities than standard theatrical posters, surviving original B0 examples are highly sought after by collectors.

This collection is one of Japan Poster Shop's particular strengths, encompassing an extensive selection of rare original Japanese B0 posters, multi-sheet theatrical billboards and exceptionally large station-display formats. Our holdings extend well beyond the standard B0, including two-sheet B0 posters, double-B0 billboards, three-sheet displays and rare ekibari railway advertising posters originally created for prominent stations and public spaces throughout Japan.

Among the highlights are monumental Japanese theatrical posters for some of the most celebrated films in cinema history, including Star Wars, Apocalypse Now, Female Prisoner Scorpion and important works of Japanese cinema. Particularly significant are our rare Star Wars ekibari posters and multi-sheet billboards, alongside extraordinary large-format examples associated with Meiko Kaji and the Female Prisoner Scorpion series. These exceptional pieces demonstrate the ambition and artistic sophistication of Japanese film advertising at its largest scale.

Unlike standard B2 theatrical posters, these oversized formats were generally intended for prominent public display, including cinema exteriors, major theatre entrances, railway stations and large advertising installations. Many were pasted, mounted or exposed to the elements, making surviving examples in excellent condition particularly scarce. Complete multi-sheet sets are especially desirable, as individual sections were frequently separated, damaged or discarded after their original advertising campaigns.

The scale of these posters allows the original artwork to be appreciated in remarkable detail, from elaborate painted illustrations and bold Japanese typography to striking photographic compositions. Important examples represent not only exceptional pieces of cinema memorabilia but also significant works of twentieth-century Japanese commercial graphic design.

Our collection ranges from rare single-sheet B0 posters to museum-quality, monumental multi-sheet billboards, including some of the most exceptional original Japanese theatrical advertising formats ever produced. These are statement pieces for serious collectors, galleries and institutions seeking historically important cinematic artwork of extraordinary visual impact.

Each poster is individually sourced and catalogued in Japan, with careful attention to authenticity, original release history, format, condition and rarity.
