This is an original Japanese B2 poster issued in Japan for the first domestic release of Dracula Has Risen from the Grave (1968), the fourth entry in Hammer’s legendary Dracula cycle and one of the most stylish late-period Christopher Lee vampire films—directed by Freddie Francis and starring Christopher Lee, Rupert Davies, Veronica Carlson, Barbara Ewing and Barry Andrews. The film opened theatrically in Japan on 12 March 1969. 

A true collector’s title within the Hammer canon, this release sits at the moment when the studio’s gothic horror became richer, more colour-saturated, and more daringly designed—anchored by Lee’s towering screen presence and the film’s feverish blend of religion, sensuality, and blood ritual.

Poster design
A high-impact, scene-driven composition dominated by Lee’s pallid, fanged close-up—pure gothic menace—set against a collage of key images: a coffin-lid attack, the bell-tower sequence, and the crypt setting, all rendered with that unmistakable late-60s Hammer atmosphere. The Japanese marketing is superb: the vertical red copy reads 「美しい女の首すじに食いこむ二本の歯牙—」 (“Two fangs bite into the neck of a beautiful woman—”), with the adjacent line promising “terrifying horror and the bizarre— a masterpiece of vampire cinema.” The blood-red title 帰って来たドラキュラ (“Dracula Has Returned”) is printed in huge brush-style lettering across a torn-paper white band, with テクニカラー (Technicolor) called out above—an exceptionally displayable design that screams 1969 horror programming.
