This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1962 (almost 60 years ago!) for the first release of 101 Dalmatians. Considering its age, it is in a fantastic condition.

This poster was acquired by Japan Poster Shop, along with many other rare 1960`s posters (all in excellent to near mint condition), from a Japanese supplier near Osaka. The posters were previously carefully stored in a warehouse belonging to an entrepreneur who used to own a cinema until the 1980`s (when it went bankrupt due to the rise in VHS video).

One Hundred and One Dalmatians is a 1961 American animated adventure comedy film produced by Walt Disney Productions and based on the 1956 novel The Hundred and One Dalmatians by Dodie Smith. Directed by Clyde Geronimi, Hamilton Luske, and Wolfgang Reitherman, it was Disney's 17th animated feature film. The film tells the story of a litter of Dalmatian puppies who are kidnapped by the villainous Cruella de Vil ("deVille"), who wants to make their fur into coats. Their parents, Pongo and Perdita, set out to save their children from Cruella in the process of rescuing 84 additional puppies that were bought in pet shops, bringing the total of Dalmatians to 101.

The film was originally released in theaters on January 25, 1961, and was a box office success, pulling the studio out of the financial slump caused by Sleeping Beauty, a costlier production released two years prior, and became the eighth highest-grossing film of the year in the North American box-office.
