This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1995 for the first release of On Your Mark, the short film produced by Studio Ghibli.
Ghibli Experimental Theater: On Your Mark (ジブリ実験劇場 On Your Mark) is an animated music video written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki for the song “On Your Mark” by the rock duo Chage & Aska. Conceived as a side-project while Miyazaki was wrestling with the script for Princess Mononoke, the seven-minute film premiered theatrically in July 1995 alongside Whisper of the Heart. The non-linear short depicts two policemen who rescue a winged girl from a cult and set her free above a polluted, subterranean future city. Deliberately cryptic, the piece invites multiple interpretations about freedom, hope, and humanity’s relationship with the environment.
