Superman (1978) – Ultra-Rare Japanese B0 Billboard Poster
Size: B0 (Approx. 105 × 150 cm)
Condition: Very Good / Excellent | Rolled | Original Theatrical Release Poster
Origin: Japan | Year: 1978
This is an original, rolled Japanese B0 theatrical billboard poster from the 1978 release of Superman: The Movie. At approximately 105 × 150 cm, this B0 format is one of the rarest poster sizes for the film—especially in Japan, where most posters were printed in B2 size. B0 billboards were typically displayed outdoors and discarded after use, making their survival incredibly uncommon.
In our many years of trading in Japan, we’ve seen only one other copy of this B0 Superman poster—making this a truly exceptional find. It has been carefully stored rolled for over 47 years and remains in very good to excellent condition. Additional imagery is provided for closer inspection.
Superman: The Movie (1978), directed by Richard Donner, marked the beginning of the modern superhero film era. With a story by Mario Puzo and a legendary score by John Williams, the film starred Christopher Reeve, Marlon Brando, Gene Hackman, and Margot Kidder. It depicted Superman's journey from Krypton to Kansas, and ultimately to Metropolis, where he battles the iconic villain Lex Luthor.
At the time of release, Superman was the most expensive film ever made, with a budget of $55 million. It grossed over $300 million worldwide, received three Academy Award nominations, and earned a Special Achievement Oscar for Visual Effects. In 2017, it was added to the National Film Registry for its cultural and cinematic significance.
Don’t miss this incredibly rare opportunity to own a piece of superhero and cinema history.
