“Dersu Uzala” (デルス・ウザーラ), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1975, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O59

Sale price $150.00

This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1975 for the first theatrical release of Dersu Uzala (デルス・ウザーラ), directed by the legendary Akira Kurosawa. Co-produced by Mosfilm (Soviet Union) and Toho (Japan), the film marked Kurosawa’s celebrated return after a period of hardship, winning the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1976.

Based on the memoir by Russian explorer Vladimir Arsenyev, the story chronicles the unlikely friendship between Arsenyev and Dersu Uzala, a nomadic hunter whose profound understanding of nature and humanity leaves a lasting impression.

Poster Design

This atmospheric design captures two figures walking across a vast, glistening river plain at sunset, their silhouettes evoking both solitude and companionship. Below, a portrait of Dersu anchors the composition, his weathered face turned to the light, reinforcing the film’s themes of resilience and reverence for the natural world. The bold yellow logotype 「デルス・ウザーラ」 sits prominently across the base, with the English title Dersu Uzala printed above for international recognition.
