This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1972 for the first release of Female Prisoner 701: Scorpion.

This poster is incredibly rare and it is the first time that we have ever had this in our gallery.

Female Prisoner #701: Scorpion (女囚701号/さそり, Joshū Nana-maru-ichi Gō / Sasori) is a 1972 Japanese women in prison film produced by Toei Company. Starring Meiko Kaji, the film is Shunya Itō's first film as a director and is based on a manga by Tōru Shinohara.

The film was followed by several sequels, including Female Prisoner Scorpion: Jailhouse 41 and Female Prisoner Scorpion: Beast Stable, and has also been remade several times.

From retrospective reviews, Sight & Sound described the film as "pure exploitation" and that "there are a fair number of arty flourishes: expressionistic lighting and make up effects, theatrically stylised sets and gymnastic camerawork."

This almost 5′ tall STB poster features fantastic artwork. The tatekan STB format had much lower print numbers compared to regular Japanese B2s. They are very rare, especially for more popular film titles, and are highly sought after by collectors today.

This poster is in a very good condition. There is a slight edge wear, and some pinholes - there are some stains that are visible on the reverse image. Please see additional imagery provided. Please refer to the imagery (both front and back) as this is the exact poster that is for sale.

It is 50 years old!

It is not a reproduction or a reprint.

Certificate of Authenticity included.
