This is an original ultra rare Japanese poster printed in 1958 for the first release of Equinox Flower",(彼岸花, Higanbana) directed by the legendary Yasujiro Ozu. This poster has been conservation linen-backed and is in a mint condition.
Yasujiro Ozu is one of Japan`s most celebrated and prolific directors and directed 44 films over a very long career.
It's 1950s Tokyo, and an old-fashioned father (Shin Saburi) disapproves of his eldest daughter's impulsive choice of a husband in this "home drama" from director Yasujiro Ozu, using color for the first time. Change is inevitable, and Ozu does a masterful job of portraying the angst of a father struggling to embrace more modern ways. This beautiful country of origin poster. (Source: HA)
