"Godzilla vs Destoroyah", Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1995, Artwork by Noriyoshi Ohrai, Extremely Rare, B1 Size (c. 73 × 103 cm)
LAST ONE IN STOCK!
This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1995 for the release of Godzilla vs Destoroyah. It is in excellent condition and rarely surfaces on the market.
The film closes the Heisei-era cycle and directly echoes the 1954 original: Destoroyah is born from the Oxygen Destroyer that killed the first Godzilla, while “Burning Godzilla” faces a catastrophic meltdown and Godzilla Junior takes the stage. Toho again commissioned legendary illustrator Noriyoshi Ohrai—famed for his international poster for The Empire Strikes Back—to deliver the campaign art.
Ohrai’s composition is ferocious and operatic: a blazing, overheating Godzilla towers against the crimson skyline as the winged Destoroyah swoops in, with Godzilla Junior framed beneath—layers of smoke, fire and steel giving the scene depth and menace characteristic of Ohrai’s painted posters.
Collectors note that printed examples can appear slightly darker than Ohrai’s original painting, a quirk of the period printing process that adds to the moody, apocalyptic tone of the artwork.
The large B1 format was produced in limited quantities for select major theatres in Japan. It was issued for the original theatrical run beginning December 9, 1995, and was not subsequently reprinted in this size—making it a scarce piece.
It is nearly 30 years old!
