This is an original Japanese poster for the first release of Harakiri (Seppuku) "切腹" in 1962.
Any poster from this film is very rare and hard to find - this one is the rarest.
We have taken the condition of this poster into account.
This poster is probably one of the most sought after Japanese posters. The condition is very good / excellent. We have another copy that is linen-backed and restored for sale, however for this poster we left it in its original amazing condition. In Japan, the philosophy is to appreciate an item (poster) in it`s original condition rather than to restore and linen-back it!
This is one of the most iconic Japanese films directed by reknown Masaki Kobayashi. The story takes place between 1619 and 1630 during the Edo period and the rule of the Tokugawa shogunate. It tells the story of Hanshirō Tsugumo, a warrior without a lord.
We are very lucky to have come across this symbolic original, not a reproduction or a reprint.
It is over 62 years old!
This poster is in excellent condition. Please refer to the imagery (both front and back) as this is the exact poster that is for sale.
It is not a reproduction or a reprint.
Certificate of Authenticity included.
