Hitchcock directs Grace Kelly in one of his best films ever, and this poster has one of the most memorable images in cinema history. A luminous Grace Kelly is the object of Ray Milland's scorn, set up for a murder she didn't commit. Kelly had appeared in numerous television programs and supporting roles in a couple of movies, but it wasn't until she was "discovered" by Alfred Hitchcock that she became a major star. Of the three films she made for the Master of Suspense, this was considered her best role-- that of a wealthy wife of a retired tennis pro. When the husband finds out his wife has had an affair, he plots to have her murdered. Hitchcock knew the part called for a woman who could radiate charm, elegance and sophistication and Grace Kelly embodied all of these attributes like no other.
