This is an original ultra rare Japanese poster printed in 1956 for the first release of The Man with the Golden Arm.
A classic and (at the time) extremely controversial film directed by Otto Preminger and starring Frank Sinatra, Eleanor Parker and Kim Novak!
Drug addiction was an extremely taboo subject at the time, and it went against the code to produce this extremely realistic film.
Saul Bass is one of the most prolific and talented graphic artists of our time, the infamous jagged arm is prominently featured on this poster, along with portraits of each of the main characters, and Japanese writing. In the US, at the premiere, there was a nine foot banner that only showed the jagged arm that was Saul Bass`s design. However, for the main poster the movie studios insisted that the main characters should also be featured on the poster.
This poster is in a mint condition - it is extremely difficult to find this poster, especially in this condition.
