This is an original Japanese B3 poster printed in 1977 for the first theatrical release of The Spy Who Loved Me (007 私を愛したスパイ), distributed in Japan by United Artists. Featuring artwork by celebrated illustrator Bob Peak, this design is among the most recognizable James Bond posters worldwide.

Film background
Directed by Lewis Gilbert, The Spy Who Loved Me is one of the most acclaimed entries of the James Bond franchise. The film stars Roger Moore in one of his signature performances as 007, opposite Barbara Bach as Soviet agent Anya Amasova. The cast also includes Curt Jürgens as the villain Stromberg, Richard Kiel as the steel-toothed henchman Jaws, and supporting performances from Caroline Munro, Bernard Lee, Desmond Llewelyn, Lois Maxwell, Sue Vanner, Edward de Souza, Geoffrey Keen, and Walter Gotell.

The story follows Bond’s mission to stop Stromberg’s plot to destroy the world with nuclear submarines. Shot across Egypt, Sardinia, and underwater lairs, the film is renowned for its exotic spectacle, stunt work, and Ken Adam’s legendary set designs. Carly Simon’s theme “Nobody Does It Better” and Marvin Hamlisch’s Oscar-nominated score helped make the film one of the definitive 1970s Bond blockbusters.

Poster design
Bob Peak’s dynamic composition showcases Roger Moore and Barbara Bach striking an elegant pose, with Bond’s Walther PPK in hand and Anya in evening wear. Below them sprawls Ken Adam’s futuristic submarine lair, with submarines, helicopters, and underwater action sequences rendered in Peak’s distinctive cinematic style. The bold red “007” gun logo and Japanese title typography give the poster a unique local flair, while the vibrant colors and layered imagery capture the grandeur of Bond at his 1970s peak.
