This is an original Japanese poster printed in 2022 for the promotion of the AKIRA Cel Exhibition held in Tokyo, Japan.
Akira (Japanese: アキラ) is a 1988 Japanese animated post-apocalyptic cyberpunk action film directed by Katsuhiro Otomo, produced by Ryōhei Suzuki and Shunzō Katō, and written by Otomo and Izo Hashimoto, based on Otomo's 1982 manga of the same name.
The AKIRA Cel Exhibition was a landmark event showcasing original production artwork and animation cels from the film — many of which had never been publicly displayed before. It was held to commemorate and preserve the groundbreaking hand-drawn artistry that defined Akira’s legacy and inspired generations of animators and filmmakers worldwide.
