"Easy Rider", Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1969, Size (30 x 42cm) ZA441
This is an original Japanese small‑format poster (approx. 30 × 42 cm) printed for the first theatrical release of Dennis Hopper’s counter‑culture classic Easy Rider.
Film background
Easy Rider follows bikers Wyatt (Peter Fonda) and Billy (Dennis Hopper) as they ride from Los Angeles to New Orleans, searching for freedom and meaning in late‑1960s America after a big drug deal. Along the way they encounter communes, prejudice and disillusionment, with Jack Nicholson’s unforgettable turn as lawyer George Hanson. Shot on location with a rock‑heavy soundtrack, the film captured the spirit of the era and became a defining work of the New Hollywood movement.
Poster design
The Japanese artwork leans into the film’s political and psychedelic overtones. Vertical blue stripes and red stars echo the American flag, while the silhouette of Fonda’s Wyatt looks out over a stylised desert landscape in bold orange. The title “イージー★ライダー” runs across the centre in thick black lettering, with the English “Easy Rider” logo tucked along the bottom. The design perfectly conveys the film’s mixture of patriotic imagery and rebellious critique.
The poster is in very good / excellent vintage condition, with vibrant colours and a strong central fold. Please check the photos carefully, as they show the exact item you will receive.
