“EVANGELION-VOX” (エヴァンゲリオン・ヴォックス), Original Japanese Promotional Music Poster 1997, Shiro Sagisu / Neon Genesis Evangelion, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) Q276

Sale price $285.00

This is an original Japanese B2 promotional poster produced in 1997 for EVANGELION-VOX, the remix / concept album connected to Neon Genesis Evangelion and produced by Shiro Sagisu.

Unlike a theatrical film poster, this is a music-release promotional poster, created to advertise the album rather than a cinema screening. Posters of this type were generally used for record shops, video stores, anime retailers, and promotional displays, making surviving examples in strong condition especially desirable for Evangelion collectors.

Release background
EVANGELION-VOX is one of the most distinctive music projects associated with Neon Genesis Evangelion. Produced by Shiro Sagisu, the album reworks music from the series into a late-1990s sound world of R&B, hip-hop, club, breakbeat, and vocal remix influences, giving the Evangelion soundtrack universe a markedly different identity from the orchestral and choral material more commonly associated with the anime.

As a result, this poster is an important piece of Evangelion music ephemera, documenting the franchise’s expansion beyond television, film, and home video into experimental album promotion and graphic design.

Poster design
This B2 design is strikingly different from most Evangelion posters. Rather than character illustration or mecha imagery, it uses a bold Pop Art / Bauhaus-inspired geometric composition of flat colour, circular forms, and abstract symbolic faces.

The background is built from strong vertical bands of black, red, and blue, overlaid with large circular icons referencing the visual language of Angels, EVA units, SEELE, cores, masks, and warning symbols. The result is graphic, minimal, and instantly memorable — a sharp late-1990s design that reflects the album’s departure from conventional anime soundtrack presentation.

At the centre, the text reads:

EVANGELION-VOX
Produced by Shiro SAGISU

A small red-and-blue emblem appears beneath, reinforcing the poster’s fusion of opposing visual and musical elements.

The abstract icons include imagery reminiscent of Sachiel, SEELE’s symbolic eye motif, Angel cores, Mass Production Evangelion faces, and other Evangelion visual references. The design rewards close viewing while remaining extremely strong from a distance.

Collector significance
This is a highly attractive poster for collectors of Neon Genesis Evangelion, Shiro Sagisu music releases, late-1990s anime design, and Japanese promotional music posters.

Because it was made for an album release rather than a theatrical campaign, it is considerably less common than standard Evangelion cinema or video posters. Its unusual graphic style also makes it one of the more design-led Evangelion promotional pieces of the period.

Condition
Excellent condition. Please review the photos carefully, as they show the exact poster for sale.

The poster presents beautifully from the front, with bold colour, crisp geometric forms, clean typography, and excellent display impact. The reverse shows light age-related spotting / storage marks near the upper area, visible in the supplied image, but this does not detract from the strong front presentation.
