Sale price $1,200.00

This is an original, very rare, Japanese B2 poster printed in 1965 to promote the first Japanese theatrical release of Goldfinger (ゴールドフィンガー), Guy Hamilton’s 1964 Bond film starring Sean Connery as 007—released in Japanese cinemas on 1 April 1965.

Film background
Goldfinger is the third cinematic James Bond adventure, with Sean Connery returning as 007 to investigate the wealthy and dangerous Auric Goldfinger, a man whose obsession with gold and contempt for human life lead Bond into one of the most iconic missions of the Connery era. Directed by Guy Hamilton, it remains one of the defining early entries in the Bond series.

This particular poster uses one of the most iconic Japanese first-release designs for the title: a bold, collage-like composition dominated by Sean Connery’s close-up portrait, the oversized red 007, and the unforgettable gold-painted body imagery that made the film instantly legendary.

Poster design
Printed in the large B2 cinema-poster format, this striking first-release Japanese design features:

  • A commanding central close-up of Sean Connery as James Bond, coolly composed and framed beside his pistol—an image that instantly establishes this as peak early Bond.
  • The giant red “007” and Japanese title ゴールドフィンガー slashed dramatically across the middle, creating a brilliant contrast against the warm brown-and-black palette.
  • Classic Bond montage imagery throughout the sheet, including the famous gold-painted female body stretched across the lower half, plus inset scenes of glamour, seduction, violence, and action.
  • Japanese credits across the top headed by ショーン・コネリー / Sean Connery, with the side text and the note ジェームズ・ボンドシリーズ第3作 (“James Bond series, third film”), giving the poster tremendous period authenticity.
  • English lower billing including SEAN CONNERY and “GOLDFINGER”, a wonderful original-release detail that adds to its international crossover appeal.

Because this is a Japanese B2 (the classic theatrical display size, approx. 51 x 73 cm), it has excellent wall presence while still being very easy to frame and display. The fact that this is a first-release Japan-issued poster for one of the most important Connery-era Bond films makes it a highly desirable and instantly recognisable piece from the entire 007 paper run.

This poster is in near mint condition. Please refer to the imagery (both front and back) as this is the exact poster that is for sale.
