“The Untouchables” (アンタッチャブル), Original First Release Japanese Movie Poster 1987, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA21
This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1987 for the first Japanese release of The Untouchables (アンタッチャブル), Brian De Palma’s acclaimed gangster epic starring Kevin Costner, Sean Connery, Andy Garcia, Charles Martin Smith, and Robert De Niro, with music by Ennio Morricone.
The film dramatizes the true-story campaign of federal agent Eliot Ness against Al Capone during Prohibition-era Chicago—one of the defining American crime films of the 1980s. The Japanese copy on this design leans into that mythic, history-shaping tone: 「かつて、アメリカの歴史を揺り動かした男たちがいた。」 (“Once, there were men who shook the course of American history.”)
Poster design
A dramatic, sepia-toned montage built around an enormous shadowed portrait (fedora and glasses) looming over the city skyline, with the Untouchables posed below—Costner front and centre aiming a pistol, flanked by the team and De Niro as Capone. The bold Japanese title アンタッチャブル dominates the lower third, and the center band notes the film as a Paramount 75th anniversary commemorative title (パラマウント映画創立75周年記念作品), making this a particularly distinctive Japanese first-release presentation.
