This is an original Japanese B3 poster printed in 1973 for Michael Crichton’s sci-fi thriller Westworld, produced by MGM. Starring Yul Brynner as the implacable Gunslinger alongside Richard Benjamin and James Brolin, the film pioneered the “theme-park gone wrong” concept and introduced mainstream audiences to Crichton’s techno-paranoia.
Design
A bold character sheet crowned by the red katakana title 「ウエストワールド」 and the シネラマ banner: Brynner stands full-figure, revolver drawn, with torn skin revealing android mechanisms in his face and arm. He’s framed by an endless gold-grid corridor, while a strip of stills along the bottom teases the resort’s control rooms, guests, and surgical labs. It’s a quintessential 1970s Japanese layout—graphic, high impact, and unmistakably MGM.
