"Final Yamato", Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1983, B2 Size (51 x 73cm) N8
This is an original Japanese B2 sized poster printed in 1983 for the release of Final Yamato (宇宙戦艦ヤマト 完結編), the fourth and final theatrical film in the original Space Battleship Yamato series.
Final Yamato is a 1983 Japanese animated science fiction epic directed by Toshio Masuda and produced by Yoshinobu Nishizaki. At the time, it was the longest animated feature film ever released in theaters (clocking in at 163 minutes), and it was marketed as the emotional finale to the beloved Yamato saga. The film takes place in the year 2203 and follows the legendary space battleship Yamato as it faces off against the interstellar Aquarius water world and the deadly Gamilas Empire in a desperate mission to save Earth.
The poster features dramatic artwork of the Yamato splitting in two amid a cosmic explosion, as beloved characters Susumu Kodai and Yuki Mori watch on—symbolising the ultimate sacrifice of the iconic warship. Below the image, English text reads:
“The time has finally come for the space battleship Yamato who loved mankind, loved the earth, bestowed courage and who throughout the years gave hope to all, to truly rest. The year is 2203.”
This poster is rare and highly collectible among anime and science fiction collectors for its historical importance, emotional resonance, and stunning apocalyptic visuals.
