"Kiki's Delivery Service", Original Release Japanese Movie Promotion Poster 1989, B2 Size (51 x 73cm) N98
This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1989 to promote the release of the Kiki’s Delivery Service Vocal Album, issued by Animage Records in conjunction with the Studio Ghibli film directed by Hayao Miyazaki.
Kiki’s Delivery Service (魔女の宅急便) is a beloved coming-of-age fantasy based on the novel by Eiko Kadono. It follows the story of Kiki, a young witch who leaves home to train and start her own delivery service, accompanied by her sarcastic yet loyal black cat, Jiji. Released in 1989, the film was a major success in Japan and has since become one of Studio Ghibli’s most cherished titles worldwide.
This promotional poster features a clean, minimalist design dominated by a large illustration of Jiji against a cream background subtly patterned with light silhouettes of the character in various poses. The top of the poster displays the Japanese title and “Vocal Album” text in red, while the lower margin includes Animage Records and product information, including catalogue numbers CD: 30ATC-190 and CA: 26AGC-2073.
As an advertising item produced specifically for music retail display, this poster was printed in limited quantities and never reissued, making it a rare collectible for Studio Ghibli and anime memorabilia enthusiasts.
