This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1993 to promote the second Sailor Moon anime series, Sailor Moon R (“Romance”), which premiered on TV Asahi on 6 March 1993.
Following the defeat of Queen Beryl, Usagi and the other Guardians regain their memories to confront two new threats: alien energy-vampires Ail & An, and later the time-traveling Black Moon Clan who pursue future princess Chibi-Usa and the Legendary Silver Crystal. Directed by Kunihiko Ikuhara and produced by Toei Animation, the 43-episode season introduced enduring fan-favorites like Chibi-Usa and the mystical Moon Rod, while deepening Usagi and Mamoru’s romance and upping the stakes with time-paradox drama.
