This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1981 for the first release of Mobile Suit Gundam II: Soldiers of Sorrow.

The poster features stunning character line art and vivid watercolour-style illustration by legendary character designer and animation director Yoshikazu Yasuhiko (安彦良和) — whose work defined the original Gundam era.

This hand-painted visual focuses on the powerful Zeon side of the conflict, depicting key figures such as Char Aznable, Gihren Zabi, Dozle Zabi, Kycilia Zabi, and M'Quve, with their bold uniforms and commanding stances evoking the militaristic might of the Principality of Zeon. The artwork is richly layered, capturing the moral ambiguity and operatic tone of the Gundam saga — where war is personal, ideological, and tragic.

Released in theatres to recap and reframe the middle arc of the 1979 TV series, Soldiers of Sorrow deepened the series' dramatic impact and cemented its transformation into a cultural landmark. The poster bears the distinctive Sunrise/Nippon Herald copyright and includes Yasuhiko’s signature and year ('81), making this an authentic and highly collectible item from Gundam's foundational era.
