"Mobile Suit Gundam II: Soldiers of Sorrow", Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1982, B2 Size (51 x 73cm) L264

Sale price $200.00

This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1981 for the first release of Mobile Suit Gundam II: Soldiers of Sorrow.

This powerful poster features original painted artwork by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko (signed “YAS” lower right), the legendary character designer and animation director whose bold linework and expressive brushwork defined the early Gundam aesthetic.

Rendered in a dramatic palette of fiery reds and shadowed blues, the composition places Amuro Ray, the young and reluctant pilot of the RX-78-2 Gundam, in the foreground — small, vulnerable, but armed — while looming behind him is the iconic silhouette of Char Aznable, the masked antagonist and symbol of Zeon’s mystique and might. The poster visually captures the tragic scale of war, youth thrust into combat, and the haunting personal rivalry that anchors the Gundam narrative.

This version of the poster was issued specifically for the theatrical run of the film in Japan and is highly sought-after for its unique Yasuhiko illustration, emotional intensity, and rarity as a non-reissue print from the original 1981 release.

This poster is in excellent condition. Please refer to the imagery (both front and back) as this is the exact poster that is for sale.
