This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1997 for the release of Princess Mononoke (もののけ姫).

Distributed only to cinemas screening the film in 1997 across Japan, this sheet was not sold commercially, making it rare.

Hayao Miyazaki’s epic from Studio Ghibli is set in the late Muromachi period and follows Ashitaka as he’s drawn into a struggle between the forest gods and the humans who exploit their land. The term “mononoke” refers to supernatural beings that possess and cause misfortune. The film became Japan’s top-grossing movie of 1997 and helped propel Ghibli’s global reputation (English script by Neil Gaiman; initial North American release via Miramax).

The artwork features San—blood-smeared, dagger in hand—standing before the white wolf goddess Moro, with character panels along the lower border and the English title “The Princess MONONOKE.” A powerful, quintessential image from the campaign.

This poster is in excellent condition. Please refer to the imagery (both front and back) as this is the exact poster that is for sale.
