30,000 Miles Under the Sea (Japanese: 海底3万マイル, Kaitei Sanman Mairu) is a 1970 animated fantasy adventure film produced by Toei Animation and directed by Takeshi Tamiya. The story follows a brave young boy named Isamu and his mermaid friend Angel as they battle the evil ruler of the undersea world, planning to conquer both sea and land. With the help of an ancient sea god and a powerful mecha-dragon, they embark on a thrilling journey to save both realms.
The film is a classic example of Toei’s colorful, imaginative 1970s animation, full of strange creatures, heroic battles, and sci-fi fantasy world-building — all brought to life with hand-drawn artistry and bold design typical of the era.
