This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1985 for Akira Kurosawa’s late-career epic Ran, inspired by Shakespeare’s King Lear and Japanese war chronicles. Starring Tatsuya Nakadai, the film is famed for its monumental battle tableaux and color-coded armies.
Design
Minimal yet thunderous: a storm-black sky split by lightning, with cavalry streaking across a green plain. The giant blood-red brushed kanji 「乱」 dominates the field—an elegant statement piece for Kurosawa’s masterpiece.
