"Blue Sunshine – Demon Frenzy Panic", Original Release Japanese Poster 1978, B2 Size (c. 51 cm × 73 cm) N53
This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1978 for the first theatrical release of Blue Sunshine (悪魔の狂暴パニック), Jeff Lieberman’s cult LSD-horror thriller.
Film background
Released in the U.S. in 1977, Blue Sunshine follows a series of sudden, hair-shedding homicidal rages traced back to a tainted strain of LSD taken a decade earlier. Blending conspiracy noir with midnight-movie gore, the film became a drive-in favourite and later a VHS staple of psychedelic horror fandom.
Poster design
Printed in standard B2 format, this Japanese campaign features:
-
A shocking central image of a bald, blood-nosed victim foregrounding a mall riot rendered in lurid photo-montage.
-
Vertical yellow and white copy trumpeting “Unprecedented terror hits Japan!” and “Ten-year after-effect of a dreadful drug!”
-
Bold red katakana title 悪魔の狂暴パニック (“Demon Frenzy Panic”) with the English tag BLUE SUNSHINE inset above.
-
Photo strip of key scenes—psycho fits, car attacks, scalpel-wielding panic—anchoring the lower margin.
Japanese B2s for late-70s American exploitation titles were printed in modest quantities and are now highly sought after by cult-cinema collectors.
