This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1974 for the release of Flesh Gordon (フレッシュ・ゴードン).
Howard Ziehm & Michael Benveniste’s camp sexploitation parody—very loosely riffing on the 1930s Flash Gordon serials—gets a gloriously over-the-top Japanese treatment with artwork by Seito. His finished illustration pays homage to pulp serial posters of the ’30s–’40s: explosive colour, the hero posed in triumph, rockets streaking through a star field, robots and skeleton warriors in pursuit, and a cosmic blue villain looming over the scene. The massive katakana title 「フレッシュ・ゴードン」 sits above the bold English logotype SPACE WARS, completing a piece of pure cult-era spectacle.
