Sale price $450.00

This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1975 for the first theatrical release of Terror of Mechagodzilla (メカゴジラの逆襲), produced and distributed by Toho. As the final entry of the Showa-era Godzilla films, first release posters for this title are highly collectible and prized among kaiju enthusiasts.

Film background
Directed by Ishirō Honda, Terror of Mechagodzilla marked Honda’s return to the series after nearly a decade away, following his earlier classics such as Godzilla (1954) and Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964). Serving as a direct sequel to Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974), the film reintroduces the alien invaders of the Black Hole Planet 3 Aliens and their resurrected Mechagodzilla, now upgraded with even deadlier weapons. Godzilla must face this powerful mechanical doppelgänger alongside a new kaiju threat: Titanosaurus, a massive aquatic dinosaur manipulated by a human scientist under alien control. With darker themes, dramatic tone, and Honda’s direction, the film is regarded as one of the strongest entries of the later Showa period.

Poster design
The poster design presents a spectacular clash between Godzilla, Mechagodzilla, and Titanosaurus above a burning cityscape. Explosive effects, atomic breath, and destructive energy beams dominate the composition, while the bold red title typography “メカゴジラの逆襲” anchors the design across the lower field. Portraits of the human cast appear along the bottom margin, reinforcing the story’s dual focus on kaiju destruction and alien-human conflict. A visually dynamic piece that captures the high stakes of the Showa series finale.
