“Help!” (ヘルプ!/4人はアイドル), Original Japanese B2 Movie Poster 1965, B2 Size (c. 51 × 73 cm) O722
This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1965 for Help! (ヘルプ!4人はアイドル), the Beatles’ second feature film—directed by Richard Lester and released in Japan by UA (United Artists). Japanese film references list the film’s first Japanese theatrical release date as 13 December 1965.
Film background
A deliriously colourful pop adventure, Help! follows the Beatles as they’re dragged into chaos when Ringo becomes the target of a sinister cult and a pair of scheming scientists—because of a ring that refuses to come off his finger. It’s a perfect time capsule of mid-60s Beatlesmania, packed with era-defining songs and Lester’s fast, playful visual style that helped shape the grammar of modern pop filmmaking.
Design
One of the most iconic Japanese Beatles poster designs of the decade: bold HELP! block typography across the centre, each band member in a vivid portrait panel (Paul / George / Ringo / John), and Japanese copy trumpeting the film as the Beatles’ “second” screen outing. A spectacular, high-impact display piece—pure 1960s colour and graphic punch.
Condition
Very Good. Please review the photos—they show the exact poster for sale.
Please note: there is visible edge wear / paper loss (see the close-up), along with age wear, fold lines, and some toning/marks to the reverse consistent with a used theatrical poster from the period. We have taken the condition into account when pricing—once framed (ideally with a mount), it will display very well.
