This is an original Japanese Speed Poster (スピードポスター) printed in 1973 for the Japanese re-release of Son of Godzilla (ゴジラの息子), Toho’s late-1960s kaiju entry featuring Godzilla, Minilla, Kamacuras, and Kumonga—a fan-favourite era where Toho leaned into family-friendly spectacle and bold, graphic advertising.

Design
A brilliantly minimal, high-impact speed format: an oversized, block-red ゴジラ dominates the left side like a warning sign, counterbalanced by the stacked title text 怪獣島の決戦 / ゴジラの息子 and an unforgettable lower-right image of Minilla firing his comic “smoke ring” atomic breath. The monochrome creature photo against the clean field, combined with that huge red typography, is exactly what makes speed posters so addictive—maximum read from across a theatre corridor with almost no wasted space.

Condition

This copy was originally folded, and the fold lines are visible, with handling wear consistent with theatrical use (see reverse). We have taken the condition into account when pricing. Once framed, this poster will display very well!
