This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1977 for the first-release of Tentacles (テンタクルズ), the cult “sea-monster panic” film directed by Ovidio G. Assonitis and starring an eclectic cast including John Huston, Shelley Winters, Henry Fonda, Claude Akins, and Bo Hopkins.
Design
A gloriously lurid Showa-era creature-feature one-sheet: a colossal, storm-black octopus erupts from the sea, its tentacles exploding across the composition as a terrified swimmer is dragged under—pure exploitation spectacle painted for maximum wall impact. The huge vertical orange title テンタクルズ punches down the right side, while the bottom strip of cast portraits (in bright yellow frames) gives it that classic 1970s “disaster/monster movie” marketing feel. The overall palette—inky blues, white foam, and that unmistakable orange typography—reads powerfully from across a room.
