This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster produced for the first Japanese cinema release of Billy Wilder’s Fedora (悲愁), the director’s late-career mystery-drama starring William Holden, Marthe Keller, Hildegard Knef, Henry Fonda, and Michael York. The film was produced in 1978 and released in Japan in 1979, where it was marketed as a sophisticated, melancholic mystery-romance from one of Hollywood’s most celebrated directors.

A superb and highly atmospheric Japanese design, dominated by an expansive coastal seascape beneath a dramatic sky streaked with light and cloud.
