Sale price $950.00

Kagemusha (1980) — Original Japanese "King Size" Poster

This is an original, ultra-rare Japanese King Size billboard poster for the first theatrical release of Kagemusha (影武者), widely regarded as one of Akira Kurosawa’s great late-career masterpieces. Produced for the film’s initial Japanese run, it was printed as a single sheet on heavier stock—exactly as issued.

Printed in an enormous King Size (120 x 180 cm), this is the most coveted size among collectors and cinema connoisseurs — and with good reason. The scale and presence of this poster are nothing short of breathtaking.

Exceptionally rare: In all our years of sourcing vintage posters in Japan, we’ve only ever come across this size once. A true unicorn for serious collectors.

The poster has been carefully stored for over 45 years and remains in excellent condition. Please refer to the images provided — what you see is exactly what you’ll receive.

Directed by the legendary Akira Kurosawa, Kagemusha stars Tatsuya Nakadai as both warlord Takeda Shingen and his double, a thief forced to impersonate the fallen daimyo to preserve the clan. The film is a grand meditation on identity, power, and destiny, set against spectacular cavalry warfare.

While Kurosawa is world-famous for his samurai epics, this late masterpiece shows his undiminished command of battlefield spectacle and human drama.

It is over 45 years old!
