This is an original Japanese poster printed for the first release of Zardoz in 1974.

Zardoz is a 1974 science fiction fantasy film written, produced, and directed by John Boorman. Set in the year 2293, it stars Sean Connery as Zed, a brutal Exterminator who lives in a post-apocalyptic world divided between the immortal Eternals and the oppressed Brutals. After an encounter with the god-like stone head “Zardoz,” Zed infiltrates the domain of the Eternals, uncovering disturbing truths about their society and the origins of their power. Charlotte Rampling, Sara Kestelman, and Niall Buggy co-star in the film.

The film is notable for its bold, surreal visuals, philosophical themes, and Sean Connery’s unforgettable red costume. Despite mixed reviews on release, Zardoz has since become a cult classic, admired for its ambition, psychedelic imagery, and allegorical storytelling.
