“Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind — Lives in the Valley of the Wind” (NAUSICAÄ), Original Japanese Promotional Poster 1984, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O213
This is an original Japanese B2 promotional poster printed in 1984 and licensed by Tokuma Shoten / Hakuhodo (credit line: © HAYAO MIYAZAKI · TOKUMA SHOTEN · HAKUHODO; “PRODUCTS BY IDOL 500 A”). Issued around the film/manga launch window, this consumer-products poster was sold in Japan as official tie-in art and is highly collectible.
Film background
Hayao Miyazaki’s landmark eco-fantasy follows Princess Nausicaä and her faithful Teto as they navigate the toxic Sea of Decay and seek peace between humanity and the Ohmu—an achievement that led directly to the founding of Studio Ghibli.
Poster design
Rendered from Miyazaki’s own pen-and-ink watercolor style: Nausicaä, helmeted and carrying her rifle, rides her Kashira mount across the bleached skeletons of ancient leviathans beneath a rose-gold sky. Delicate ornamental corners frame the artwork; the English header “Lives in the Valley of the Wind / NAUSICAÄ” floats above—a lyrical, gallery-worthy composition.
