"Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" (風の谷のナウシカ), Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 1984, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O395
This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1984 for Hayao Miyazaki’s Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind—the landmark film that launched the Studio Ghibli era (produced by Tokuma Shoten/Nibariki with animation by Topcraft, released domestically via Toei). A foundational eco-epic, it introduced audiences to Miyazaki’s soaring aerials, compassionate heroines, and richly imagined worlds.
Design
Dynamic painterly key art: Nausicaä clings to the rail of her Mehve glider with Teto on her shoulder as gunships roar overhead; below, the toxic Sea of Decay spreads around windmills and ruins, a massive Ohmu advancing beside the skull of a fallen Giant Warrior. The bold, textured red title 「風の谷のナウシカ」 anchors the base—quintessential early-’80s Miyazaki imagery.
