This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster produced for the first Japanese cinema release of Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment (ポリスアカデミー2／全員出動！), the second instalment in the enormously successful Police Academy comedy series. The film was produced in 1985 and opened theatrically in Japan on 6 July 1985, distributed domestically by Warner Bros.
Directed by Jerry Paris, the film reunites Steve Guttenberg, Bubba Smith, Michael Winslow, David Graf, Marion Ramsey and George Gaynes, alongside Colleen Camp, Howard Hesseman and Bobcat Goldthwait. After graduating from the academy, Mahoney and his fellow officers receive their first real assignment in a crime-ridden precinct, where their distinctly unconventional policing methods collide with a street gang and the scheming Lt. Mauser.
Poster design
A fantastic Japan-specific promotional design built around the extraordinary international success of the first two Police Academy films. Against a brilliant yellow-and-white star-filled background, the familiar police ensemble charges forward beneath enormous box-office figures for the original film and sequel, while national flags and figures from markets around the world transform the poster into a visual celebration of the franchise becoming a global phenomenon.
Across the top, the Japanese campaign copy proudly declares that the highest-grossing new recruits in history have arrived, while another line boasts that the sequel was already breaking the previous film’s records around the world. The central cast illustration features Mahoney, Hightower, Tackleberry, Hooks and the rest of the gang advancing with guns, uniforms and exaggerated expressions, perfectly capturing the series’ chaotic ensemble comedy.
The enormous red-and-blue ポリスアカデミー2 title dominates the lower section, accompanied by 全員出動！ — “Everybody Mobilize!” / “All Hands Out!”, the Japanese subtitle used for the film’s original release. The combination of huge numerical typography, national flags and exuberant ensemble artwork makes this a particularly distinctive piece of mid-1980s Japanese Hollywood-film advertising.

Excellent. The poster retains superb colour saturation, with the bright yellow background, vivid red and blue typography and detailed character artwork remaining exceptionally fresh. There are only very minor signs of age and handling, with no significant condition issues affecting the central artwork or typography. Please review the photos—they show the exact poster for sale.
