"Studio Ghibli – Tokuma Promotional Poster" (スタジオジブリ 徳間プロモーション), Original Japanese Promotional Poster 1990, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) N220

Sale price $425.00

This is an original Japanese B2 promotional poster printed in 1990 by Tokuma Shoten to promote the works of Studio Ghibli. Issued for publicity purposes and not for retail sale, these posters were distributed in limited numbers, making them highly collectible today.

The design brings together imagery from four of Ghibli’s most beloved films:

  • My Neighbor Totoro (となりのトトロ, 1988), featuring Totoro with Satsuki and Mei against a moonlit sky

  • Kiki’s Delivery Service (魔女の宅急便, 1989), with Kiki in a reflective moment

  • Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (風の谷のナウシカ, 1984), with Nausicaä in flight gear and weapon in hand

  • Castle in the Sky (天空の城ラピュタ, 1986), highlighting Sheeta and Pazu with the crystal pendant

The artwork style resembles watercolor illustrations, giving the poster a soft, storybook-like quality. The striped background frames each vignette, emphasizing both individual films and Ghibli’s growing legacy as a studio of cultural importance.

Produced by Tokuma Shoten Publishing, a longtime supporter and distributor of Studio Ghibli works, this poster reflects the studio’s early 1990s branding during the rapid international rise of Japanese animation.

It is over 34 years old!
