“Unforgiven” (許されざる者), Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 1993, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA1243

Sale price $136.00

This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster produced for the 1993 first Japanese release of Unforgiven, Clint Eastwood’s acclaimed Western starring Eastwood, Gene Hackman, Morgan Freeman and Richard Harris. Originally released in America in 1992, the film became one of the defining achievements of Eastwood’s career as both actor and director.

Written by David Webb Peoples, the story follows William Munny, a former outlaw struggling to raise his children on an impoverished farm. Drawn back into bounty hunting alongside his old companion Ned Logan, Munny confronts the brutal authority of sheriff Little Bill Daggett. Its treatment of violence, reputation and moral responsibility challenges the heroic mythology of the American West. The film won four Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor for Gene Hackman, and Best Film Editing.

The poster centres on the film’s memorable image of Munny standing with his back to the viewer, his head turned slightly beneath a broad-brimmed hat. His hands meet behind his back, concealing a long-barrelled revolver that points diagonally towards the lower left. Warm amber light traces his hat, shoulders and coat against a deep brown-black background, giving the solitary figure a powerful, brooding presence.

Four small character portraits appear at the lower right above the bold orange Japanese title, 「許されざる者」, with the English Unforgiven beneath. Matching orange cast names occupy the upper right, while a compact white credit block anchors the bottom. The restrained composition captures the film’s atmosphere of buried violence and uneasy reflection.

Excellent+ condition overall. The poster presents beautifully, with rich dark tones, strong orange lettering and a clean overall appearance. Once framed, this poster will display excellently.
