Sale price $350.00

This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1972 for the Toho re-release of Destroy All Monsters (怪獣総進撃, 1968), directed by Ishirō Honda with special effects by Eiji Tsuburaya. A cornerstone of the Showa era and one of the most beloved “all-star” kaiju spectacles ever made, this title remains a defining chapter in the Godzilla franchise—and the poster art is pure Toho maximalism.

Film background
Destroy All Monsters assembles an unprecedented roster of Toho icons: Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, Anguirus, King Ghidorah, Minilla, Gorosaurus, Baragon, Kumonga, Manda, and Varan. Set in the then-futuristic year of 1999, the monsters live in uneasy peace on Monsterland until alien invaders—the Kilaak race—seize control and unleash them across the globe. The film culminates in a legendary final showdown at Mount Fuji, where Earth’s kaiju unite against King Ghidorah in one of the great ensemble battle sequences of the genre.

Poster design
This is exactly what collectors want from early-70s Toho re-release paper: explosive, crowded, and insanely fun. The composition stacks a roll-call of monsters into a single panoramic riot—Godzilla firing his atomic breath, King Ghidorah dominating the centre with winged menace, and the rest of the Monsterland lineup surging into battle above a burning cityscape. The hand-labeled kaiju name tags are a wonderful period detail, and the diagonal energy beams and rays create that signature “everything is happening at once” Toho poster intensity.
Anchoring the bottom is the huge red title 「ゴジラ電撃大作戦」—a punchy re-release billing that reads like a pure drive-in era promise of non-stop monster mayhem.

Rarity and condition
This particular example is exceptional: unused cinema dead-stock, sourced directly from the remaining inventory of a theatre that has since closed. Because it was never displayed, the presentation is clean, crisp, and refined, with striking “gallery wall” impact—especially in a design that balances dense, saturated colour and detail with large areas of pale space.

Condition
Excellent, close to Near Mint (Unused “Dead Stock”). Please review the photos—they show the exact poster for sale.
