This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster produced for the “40th Anniversary New Print” (公開40周年記念ニュープリント) revival release of The Great Escape (大脱走). This Cinecanon re-release opened in Japan on 6 March 2004.
Directed by John Sturges and based on Paul Brickhill’s book, the film is widely regarded as one of the definitive WWII escape epics—featuring an all-star cast as printed on the poster, including Steve McQueen, James Garner, and Richard Attenborough.
Poster design
This is the iconic red-and-black graphic design: the monumental THE GREAT ESCAPE title across a blood-red field, silhouettes of prisoners and guard tower along the top, barbed wire slicing the composition, and the unforgettable motorcycle imagery at lower right—an exceptionally powerful, frame-ready piece that remains one of the most striking designs for the title.
